Marianne Hardart and Lorraine B. Diehl

Marianne Hardart
is the great-granddaughter of Automat cofounder Frank Hardart; her father, Augustin, was the last of three generations of Hardarts to manage the Automats. Marianne lives in New York City and works at NYU Medical Center.

Lorraine B. Diehl
writes features and a weekly “Secret City” column for the New York Daily News, and has contributed to New York magazine, the New York Times, Travel & Leisure, and American Heritage. She is the author of Subways: The Tracks That Built New York City and The Late, Great Pennsylvania Station, now in its third printing.

     Lorraine grew up and still lives in New York City, with her husband Bill, an entertainment correspondent for ABC Network Radio.
